Pray for Priests

We are a group of Catholics in the Diocese of Victoria on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. We pray daily for those who serve us in Holy Orders, our Bishop, our diocesan priests, our deacons and for more vocations.

The men in Holy Orders  have dedicated their lives to serving God by serving His faithful, providing the sacraments and ministering to the spiritual needs of our common priesthood. They work long, irregular hours, often without thanks or recognition for what they do. They must deal with the preferences and opinions, often conflicting, of us, their parishioners.

Their numbers are depleted, but the needs of the faithful have not. Among their many challenges, they now strive to rebuild the respect and trust diminished by the shameful conduct of some.

To gain insight into the spiritual dimensions, challenges and burdens accepted by those in Holy Orders, it is recommended that you read the excerpts from the Catechism of the Catholic Church in the section under "Holy Orders".

They need our prayers, and they need the encouragement of knowing they are being prayed for.

This is a lay initiative, and we have followed the lead from the Curé D'Ars Prayer Group of Raleigh, North Carolina, USA.

You are invited to join our group.  By enrolling  as a member you signify your commitment to praying daily for one or more of those men in the diocese of Victoria who have received the Sacrament of Holy Orders or who are open to receiving the sacrament.

Members' information is kept strictly confidential, and there are no meetings or other obligations. However, you are encouraged to revisit this website occasionally as it is intended to add items of interest from time to time as they arise..

We place ourselves - with our priests - under the patronage of the Curé D'Ars. St. John Vianney, the patron saint of priests.
